Encryption software addresses the business needs of your mobile workers by ensuring protection of the sensitive information stored on laptops. Authentication by password or hardware token at pre-boot time is combined with full disk encryption that uses the AES algorithm. Full disk encryption ensures that every sector on the disk is encrypted, which in turn means every byte of data is too, this includes temporary files, paging files, deleted files and Windows registry files.
WinMagic's SecureDoc software provides full disk encryption to protect information stored on laptops, and together with the SecureDoc Enterprise Server allows administrators to install, encrypt, and configure users' machines centrally. After installation on a laptop the user is required to authenticate by password, USB key or Smartcard before Windows boots. There is no noticeable effect on the performance of the laptop and data is encrypted whenever 'at rest', this includes shutdown, hibernation or standby.
